As 2018 is nearly upon us, we'd like to reflect on what a wonderful festive time we have had in our homes, and thank those who continued to deliver great care over this period.

We know that the delivery of person-centred care doesn’t stop during the Christmas period and that this season can be a particularly challenging time for those in need of care, as it can heighten their sense of loneliness or confusion.

We think carers are unsung heroes, giving up their family time on Christmas and Boxing Day to continue delivering care, either in the community or in care homes.

A number of our care homes invited their local communities to join them for lunch on Christmas Day and we’d like to acknowledge those special people who volunteered to serve meals with a smile, spread Christmas cheer, crack jokes with the residents and make their day enjoyable.

During the festive period, our twenty one care homes, held Christmas fayres, raised money for charity, welcomed nursery and school children, musicians, singers, entertainers, and even unusual Pets as Therapy creatures, including miniature ponies and snakes!

So as we see in the New Year, we’d like to wish our residents, their friends and family, the volunteers, care teams and carers everywhere, a warm and joyful time, and we look forward to planning new and exciting ventures, activities and events in 2018.
