The Oaks Care Home, in Lexden, Colchester, invited Lexden Lodge Kindergarten for a play date, on the 13 June. It was such a success, it will now be a regular event.

As part of a number of community engagement events being organised at The Oaks Care Home, in Lexden, Colchester, they saw their first play date with Lexden Lodge Kindergarten on Tuesday 13 June. Seven little people, from ‘Puffins’ came to join our residents for a fun filled morning, for finger and sponge painting, bat and ball and finally collecting pine cones in the garden to use for more craft activities.

The children made themselves very much at home and confidently played and chatted amongst the residents. They loved the chance to meet each other and enjoy the sunshine in the beautiful grounds.

Lindsay Ridley, Activity Co-coordinator, said “It was such a great experience for both residents and the children and we can't wait for them to visit again.”

Sylvia Nevard (resident) said, as she watched the children play rolly polly, “This reminds me of my children and grandchildren when they were that age.”
