Welcome to The Oaks Care Home, a very friendly place where we aim to make sure your stay with us is as enjoyable as possible. We have plenty to offer you - such as excellent accommodation, delicious home-cooked food and all the help you need to make your life here pleasant and comfortable. It is important to us that you feel relaxed and welcome, and that your relatives are confident you are being well supported.

The Oaks Home was acquired by New Century Care in August 1995. Registered for 61 people, the home offers a mix of single and double rooms, on two floors, serviced by a lift. The Oaks care for people with general nursing, care and specialised needs.

Our home...is your home
At The Oaks Care Home you can relax in the attractive and comfortable lounge area or the open dining area, with quiet areas where you can read, chat or spend time with your family and friends. We also have extensive landscaped gardens with decking, ideal for sitting out in the summer and enjoying outside activities.
All rooms have all the necessary safety features such as smoke detectors and a Nurse-Call system to ensure 24-hour confidence and reassurance.
You will have your own key-worker to support you and a care plan which is regularly reviewed to ensure that any changes in your well-being are documented and understood by all.
Bedrooms...make it your own!
You have your own room so you can maintain your independence and privacy-although if you wish, you can spend time with your fellow residents in the lounge or dining area. We know how important it is to have time and space to yourself, so we put a lot of effort into making you’re your room is pleasant, comfortable and personal to you.
Bedrooms are homely and comfortable and offer television aerial sockets and telephone points. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated with room for you personal belongings, so you can dress your room in your own way to make it feel your own.
Your meals…lovely home cooking
We all know that food is one of life’s great pleasures, so we provide a varied choice of menu every day. You can eat in your own room or with the other residents in the dining area. As well as your main meals you can have snacks and drinks at any time of the day or night, and if you have a special diet, our fabulous Chef will be happy to discuss it with you.
The Oaks has their own laundry service, which collects and delivers clothes back to you daily. However, relatives may take laundry to do themselves outside the Home if they wish. We do ask that all garments are clearly labelled with the relevant person’s name to ensure all items are returned to the correct owner.
Activities...lots to do!
We are very keen to encourage everyone in our care to join in our wide range of activities; we have an Activities Co-ordinator who provides a variety of daily things for you to do. This is a great way to get to know your fellow residents. With visiting entertainers and outings throughout the year, there is always something to do.
Outside the Home
Situated in Lexden on the outskirts of the busy market town of Colchester, The Oaks is surrounded by large gardens and well manicure lawns which can be enjoyed through the summer months by our residents and their visitors.
In addition to the main garden, The Oaks has an extensive area of decking offering a focus to outside life for BBQ's, fetes, parties and access to personal gardening if wished.
