Sycamore Hall, Ripon
Set in the cathedral city of Ripon in North Yorkshire, Sycamore Hall Care Home is built on the site of the original glass houses of the old college campus. The home is set well back from the main road and situated in what is now a residential area as other parts of the college have been converted into domestic housing.
Sycamore Hall Care Home was opened in September 2005 by Premier Nursing Homes Limited and became part of the New Century Group in July 2006. Sycamore Hall is registered to provide care for up to 60 people with dementia care needs. We can provide residential and nursing care for people over the age of 65, with some places available for people over 55 years of age who have dementia.
The home has 60 single en-suite rooms, some of the bathrooms have showers and there bath and shower rooms on each floor. Several of the rooms are big enough to be shared, should spouses or siblings wish to share. Accommodation is over two floors, with comfortable lounges, quiet rooms and dining rooms on each floor. There is a central kitchen providing a variety of meals daily to cater for the likes and dislikes of the residents as well as providing specialist diets. We have an in-house laundry, so clothes are washed daily. We only ask that residents clothes are clearly and indelibly marked when they are admitted.
Sycamore Hall has a large open garden at the front of the home with seats for visitors and residents to use. There are two secure courtyard gardens at the rear of the home, which are easily and safely accessed via the ground floor lounges and dining room. These gardens have lawn and patio areas with raised flower beds, an arbour and a wide selection of seating areas for those seeking peace and quiet or those who wish to sit out in the sunshine.

Our home...is your home
All rooms have all the necessary safety features such as smoke detectors and a Nurse-Call system.
Residents have their own key-worker to support them, but not necessarily provide their day-to-day care. We provide person centred care, so ensure that all care plans are individual, personal and relevant only for that person. All plans are regularly reviewed to ensure that any changes are documented and ensure that all staff are suitably informed about that persons needs.
Our Staff...here to help
Our Home Manager has a wealth of experience in nursing and has excellent management and inter-personnel skills.
If you would like to speak with our Home Manager please call 01765 606 025.
Bedrooms...make it your own!
You will have your own room, which is a private space if you wish to avoid some of the noise or hurly burly of everyday life in the home.
Bedrooms are homely and comfortable, offering television aerial sockets and telephone points. All bedrooms are furnished with carpets, curtains and furniture, but to make it personal and familiar we suggest that you bring your ‘bits and pieces’ in with you. This could be a small table or bureau, a favourite chair and your pictures and ornaments or a bird table to go outside the bedroom window.
Your meals…lovely home cooking
We all know that food is one of life’s great pleasures, so we provide a varied choice of menu every day. You can eat in your own room, with the other residents in the dining area or in one of the sitting rooms. As well as your main meals you can have snacks and drinks at any time of the day or night, and if you have a special diet, our fabulous Chef will be happy to discuss it with you.
Sycamore Hall has its own laundry service, which collects and delivers clothes back to you. However, relatives may take laundry to do themselves outside the Home if they wish. We do ask that all garments are clearly labelled with the relevant person’s name to ensure all items are returned to the correct owner.
Activities...lots to do!
We are very keen to encourage everyone in our care to join in our wide range of activities and we have an Activities Co-ordinator who provides lots of different things for you to do. The programme is very flexible and includes armchair exercises, board games, quizzes, movies, musical afternoons, knitting and sewing sessions and visiting entertainers, although a sunny afternoon can quickly become an afternoon tea party in the gardenOutside the Home
The home is situated in the historical cathedral city of Ripon, which is the fourth smallest city in England. The nearest railway station is at Thirsk, with regular bus or taxi links. Harrogate is a short bus ride away and Masham is just up the road. We are only 15 minutes from the A1 junction with the A61. There is ample parking space available at the front of the home.
