New Century Care announces appointment of

Mel Ramsey as Chief Executive Officer

London, 9 June 2014: New Century Care (NCC), a leading UK operator of care homes for people with dementia and specialist nursing needs, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mel Ramsey as Chief Executive Officer. Mel will join NCC next month when she leaves her current role of Chief Operating Officer of Embrace Group, formerly European Care Group.

Mel Ramsey brings over 18 years’ experience of care homes group management and prior to her current role she spent four years at Craegmoor Healthcare Ltd where she was Commercial Director and, previously, Managing Director of Craegmoor’s Specialist Care division.

Paul Warren, NCC’s founder, commented:

“Mel’s experience of growing businesses, whilst at the same time placing utmost importance on maintaining high quality care, will be invaluable as New Century Care embarks on the next phase of its growth and development. Since its formation, New Century Care has been committed to providing the highest standard of care to our residents.”

Mel Ramsey commented:

“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to lead New Century Care through the next stage of its journey, from being a very good operator of care homes providing specialist support to older people, into something outstanding. By continuing to develop improved and innovative ways of working, we will be able to build a stronger platform to further develop and grow the business for the benefit of the people we support and our dedicated staff.”

Paul Warren, who founded NCC in 1995 and has grown the Company to its current size, will maintain an active role as a non-executive board member in the business. He will also join NCC’s senior advisory committee in order to support the Company through its next phase of growth.

About Mel Ramsey

Prior to this, she was Commercial Director at the Group, where she worked with the Board to develop the Group strategy and a five-year business plan.

Under her management between 2007 and 2009, the Group’s North division saw an increase in both the quality of care provided and the performance of the region.

Prior to joining Craegmoor, Mel worked as a Quality Assurance Consultant following working alongside BUPA Care Homes integration team following its acquisition of ANS plc. Mel had previously worked for ANS plc in various roles between 1998 and 2005, including as Home Manager and as the Quality Assurance Manager to the ANS plc board.
